So these days the biggest question my clients are asking is whether to continue to color their hair. Especially my clients that are gray. The answer is kind of wishy washy because grays come in all different colors and textures....and so do people.
As a stylist I want everyone to look their and feel their best. If your forty years old and your genes dictate that you will be completely gray by the end of the year, than yes, yes, yes color your hair. You are far to young to have gray hair. If your fifty and competing in the workplace with twenty somethings then, again, yes color your hair. If you have the textured hair that frizzes, especially in the humidity, than yes color your hair.
However if you are not in these situations, forgive me my beauty industry friends, then give it a try! It might be fabulous! It works for Jamie Lee Curtis and it might work for you!.
Getting older is nothing to be ashamed of. You might find it liberating to be natural. But be warned, gray hair has a completely different texture than colored hair and also the texture your young hair did.
In my experience gray hair works best with a shorter, smart, sassy, style. So if you want to keep your
longer hair, be careful, it may age you. And be careful to find a stylist that knows how to cut a trendy shorter style, or you can end up looking like your grandmother. Nobody wants that.
But if your really up for a change and you want to see how it looks ... go for it! You might just love it. And if you don't, your just a color bowl away from changing it back.
Have a Happy Hair Day
